Cracked has come up with an amusing flowchart that ‘explains’ director Ron Howard’s ‘formula’ for making films.
As they say:
Ron Howard is a former child actor who has directed some of the most financially successful and critically acclaimed films of the past 10 years.
His critically acclaimed movies are usually inspirational
His blockbusters, ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ ($260 million), ‘The Davinci Code’ ($217 million) and ‘Angels & Demons’ ($155 million world wide this weekend) rely on a much stranger secret formula.
Aside from the fact that the trailer plays like a warped update of Freaks, the voiceover appears to be taking the piss and the whole thing has the feel of some kind of acid-drenched hoax.
Best bit: when asked about his musical tastes and influences as a child, he starts going on about ‘Famous Monsters of Filmland’.
Later Thornton complained that Canadian audiences wouldn’t get up and move, saying that Canadians were like mashed potatoes without gravy, which perhaps isn’t the best way of boosting his Canadian record sales.
In comes from the middle of a discussion with his aides HR Haldeman and John Ehrlichman on how they should shape their public relations in regard to what the ‘average man’ cares about.
They talk about the new television show All in the Family and the recent episode Nixon had seen, which leads to a larger and more surreal discussion.
