Trailer: Wall Street 2 Money Never Sleeps

[ad]

The first trailer for the Wall Street sequel Money Never Sleeps has arrived.

(Click here if the above one doesn’t work)

There are some nice touches (especially the mobile phone) but doesn’t this feel like it should have been made a few years ago before the collapse of Lehman Brothers?

It started filming in New York last September with Michael Douglas back as Gordon Gekko and Oliver Stone returning to direct.

The plot is the modern-day story of Gekko, who has recently been sprung from prison and re-emerges into the current chaos of the financial markets, whilst trying to rebuild a relationship with his estranged daughter (Carey Mulligan).

Meanwhile Shia LaBeouf plays a young trader and Frank Langella stars as his mentor, whilst Josh Brolin has a key supporting role as a hedge fund manager.

It is released in the UK and US on Friday 23rd April.

Trailer: Green Zone

[ad]

The first trailer for Green Zone has arrived, which is the new Iraq war drama starring Matt Damon and directed by Paul Greengrass.

It would appear that Universal want to sell this as a Bourne-style thriller rather than the heavy political drama it sounded like when it was greenlit back in 2007.

We posted some photos of the set in London back in April 2008.

It is released in March 2010.

Alien trailer tops IFC list

50 Trailers IFC

IFC recently posted a listed of The 50 Greatest Trailers of All Time.

As so often with these kinds of list, there are some WTF inclusions (Red Eye?!) but there are also many worth a look.

However, it is the Number 1 entry of Alien that you should really check out if you haven’t ever seen it.

The lack of dialogue, haunting sounds and first rate editing all reflect the creepy atmosphere of the film as well not revealing too much (sadly a lost art in recent years).

(N.B. It is also worth looking out for a shot which I don’t think I’ve ever seen before at 1.09-1.10)

Teaser for Michael Moore’s new film

The teaser for Michael Moore’s as-yet-untitled documentary about the bailout has been released by Overture films.

[ad]

The IMDb currently lists it as ‘The Untitled Michael Moore Project‘ and at a screening of the above trailer in New York cinemas ushers walked around collecting donations for the satirical “Save Our CEOs” organization.

Apparently if anyone was silly enough to give money, it all went to a local food bank.

Courtney Hazlett of MSNBC’s ‘The Scoop’ had a recent discussion previewing the film, in which they point out that it could have a broader appeal than his previous work because of widespread bipartisan anger towards Wall Street:

It is scheduled for a US release on October 2nd.

Trailer: New Moon

This is the trailer for the new Twilight film New Moon.

By the way, it is worth noting that Summit and MTV have been smart in allowing the above trailer to have an embed code.

This means it can be posted to any blog or website, which is a change from the ‘exclusive’ trailers that only show on Yahoo.

In those cases they may get some money to be exclusively shown on one site (even though they usually end up bootlegged on YouTube anyway) but surely the idea is to get as many views as possible all over the web.

In essence, it is better to have the viral nature of the Internet (and legions of Twilight fans) working for and not against you.

New Moon is out at cinemas on November 20th and has already inspired some fans to go a bit crazy.
