At the Movies with Scott and Phillips

Could this video trailing the new At the Movies presenters (A.O. Scott of the New York Times and Michael Phillips of the Chicago Tribune) be any more of a calculated ‘f*** you’ to the previous lineup of Ben Lyons and Ben Mankiewicz?

After Roger Ebert was unable to do the show after illness, someone at Disney’s AMC Media Productions felt it would be a good idea to replace him and co-host Richard Roeper with two – how shall we put this? – lesser lights (although to be fair to Mankiewicz, it appeared to be Lyons who was well out of his depth).

The format originally found fame with Gene Siskel and Ebert in the late 1970s and a big archive of the show can be seen here.
