{"id":925,"date":"2007-08-07T04:37:01","date_gmt":"2007-08-07T03:37:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.filmdetail.com\/archives\/2007\/08\/07\/miachael-apted-on-amazing-grace\/"},"modified":"2017-05-24T23:03:34","modified_gmt":"2017-05-24T22:03:34","slug":"miachael-apted-on-amazing-grace","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.filmdetail.com\/2007\/08\/07\/miachael-apted-on-amazing-grace\/","title":{"rendered":"Michael Apted on Amazing Grace"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Michael Apted\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0000776\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Michael Apted\" src=\"http:\/\/www.filmdetail.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/08\/michael-apted-image.jpg\" alt=\"Michael Apted\" align=\"right\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0000776\/\"><strong>Michael Apted<\/strong><\/a> is a director whose work includes the landmark <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Seven_Up%21\">Up series<\/a>, a <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_World_Is_Not_Enough\">Bond film<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Coal_Miner%27s_Daughter\">Coal Miner&#8217;s Daughter<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gorillas_in_the_Mist\">Gorillas in the Mist<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0883377\/\">official film of the 2006 World Cup<\/a> and he&#8217;s also the current president of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dga.org\/\">Directors Guild of America<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>His latest film is about <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/William_Wilberforce\">William Wilberforce<\/a> and is called <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Amazing_Grace_%282007_film%29\"><strong>Amazing Grace<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I spoke with him back in March around the UK cinema release of the film and we discussed Wilberforce, the Up documentaries and his passion for football.<\/p>\n<p>Note that at the time we recorded the interview <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/West_Ham_United_F.C.\">West Ham<\/a> looked certain to be relegated <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/sport1\/hi\/football\/eng_prem\/6437223.stm\">despite a lucky win against Blackburn<\/a>, hence our gloomy forecast for the club.
