The Pacific<\/a><\/strong> is an upcoming World War II<\/a> miniseries, produced by\u00a0Steven Spielberg<\/a>,\u00a0Tom Hanks<\/a> and\u00a0Gary Goetzman<\/a> for HBO which will air in the UK on Sky Movies HD<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A companion series of sorts to\u00a0Band of Brothers<\/a>, which\u00a0focused on the\u00a0U.S. Army<\/a>‘s involvement in the\u00a0European Theater of Operations<\/a>, this series explores the U.S. Marines<\/a> in the\u00a0Pacific Theater of Operations<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The series track the stories of three Marines \u2013\u00a0Robert Leckie<\/a>,\u00a0Eugene Sledge<\/a> and\u00a0John Basilone<\/a> \u2013 as they fight in the Pacific and follows them and their fellow soldiers as they clash with the\u00a0Japanese<\/a> in the\u00a0battles of Guadalcanal<\/a>,\u00a0Cape Gloucester<\/a>,\u00a0Peleliu<\/a>,\u00a0Okinawa<\/a> and the\u00a0Battle of Iwo Jima<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Made at a cost of $200 million and shot on location in Australia in High Definition, the series will run for 10 episodes. <\/p>\n

Sky Movies HD<\/strong> will be airing The Pacific in the UK at the same time as the series shows in the US on HBO.<\/p>\n
