\"\"<\/a>Tomorrow night this year’s winner of the Palme d’Or<\/a><\/strong> will be announced at the Cannes Film Festival<\/a>.<\/p>\n

When the festival began in 1939 the top prize at the festival was known as the Grand Prix<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But in 1955 the Festival started to award the best film a golden palm, in tribute to the coat of arms of the City of Cannes<\/a>.<\/p>\n
