{"id":12960,"date":"2011-09-19T05:27:36","date_gmt":"2011-09-19T04:27:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.filmdetail.com\/?p=12960"},"modified":"2011-09-19T09:29:53","modified_gmt":"2011-09-19T08:29:53","slug":"terrence-malick-and-christian-bale-filming-in-austin-city-limits-music-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.filmdetail.com\/2011\/09\/19\/terrence-malick-and-christian-bale-filming-in-austin-city-limits-music-festival\/","title":{"rendered":"Terrence Malick and Christian Bale filming in Austin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.filmdetail.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Terrence-Malick-and-Christian-Bale-filming-in-Austin1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-12963\" title=\"Terrence Malick and Christian Bale filming in Austin\" src=\"http:\/\/www.filmdetail.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Terrence-Malick-and-Christian-Bale-filming-in-Austin1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"280\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Video has surfaced online of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Terrence_Malick\">Terrence Malick<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Christian_Bale\">Christian Bale<\/a> shooting their latest film in Austin, Texas.<\/p>\n<p>Malick was seen in his hometown at the <a href=\"http:\/\/aclfestival.com\/\">Austin City Limits<\/a> music festival over the weekend along with a film crew and Christian Bale.<\/p>\n<p>The festival was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/aclfestival\">streamed live on YouTube<\/a> as acts like <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Iron_%26_Wine\">Iron and Wine<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/TV_on_the_Radio\">TV on the Radio<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Coldplay\">Coldplay<\/a> performed.<\/p>\n<p>However, Bale and Malick were also\u00a0caught on camera in the crowd by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.twitvid.com\/\">Twitvid<\/a> user <a href=\"http:\/\/www.twitvid.com\/videos\/doublepunching\">Johnny Garcia<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Twitvid video player\" src=\"http:\/\/www.twitvid.com\/embed.php?guid=TSXER&amp;autoplay=0\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The production crew were obviously aware that they would be shooting amongst a crowd and that photos and video were likely to be taken.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps that was the vibe Malick was going for, even though any film fans there may have been startled to see one of the legends of cinema and a leading A-list actor in the crowd of a music festival.<\/p>\n<p>At one point Bale shoots a knowing glance to the (users) camera and then a woman called Sarah gives Malick a beer to give to Bale (both seemed very appreciative).<\/p>\n<p>The Film Stage have also\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/thefilmstage.com\/news\/terrence-malick-spotted-filming-christian-bale-in-austin-has-his-next-feature-begun-production\/\">posted photos<\/a> of the filming along with some Twitter reaction.<\/p>\n<p>The big question is what film is this for?<\/p>\n<p>His next project &#8211; which <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.indiewire.com\/theplaylist\/archives\/extensive_plot_details_emerge_for_terrence_malicks_the_burial\/\">some think may be called The Burial<\/a> &#8211; is scheduled for release next year and the IMDb list it simply as the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1595656\/\">Untitled Terrence Malick Project<\/a> (2012).<\/p>\n<p>It might be tempting to assume this is another movie altogether but I have a suspicion that it could be part of the film out next year.<\/p>\n<p>Last September, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rockvillemusicmagazine.com\/2010\/09\/malick-movie-confirmed-for-oklahoma.html\">Malick was spotted at another music festival<\/a>\u00a0(called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.okindiansummer.org\/\">Indian Summer<\/a>) in <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bartlesville,_Oklahoma\">Bartlesville, Oklahoma<\/a> filming with actress Olga Kurylenko.<\/p>\n<p>Rockville Music Magazine <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rockvillemusicmagazine.com\/2010\/09\/malick-movie-confirmed-for-oklahoma.html\">said at the time<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Festival goers took note of the Redbud Pictures LLC signs throughout the grounds alerting the public of filming. Redbud Pictures was incorporated in Oklahoma and Texas in the spring of 2010.
