color: #333; font-weight: normal;\">kratom capsules<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>She gained fame and recognition for roles in <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/National_Velvet_(film)\">National Velvet<\/a> (1944), <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cat_on_a_Hot_Tin_Roof\">Cat on a Hot Tin Roof<\/a> (1958) and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Who%27s_Afraid_of_Virginia_Woolf%3F_(film)\">Who&#8217;s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?<\/a> (1966).<\/p>\n<p>In addition she was also one of the major stars of her era, attracting worldwide fame and attention from the press as she married several times, won two Oscars and had a high profile relationship with <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Richard_Burton\">Richard Burton<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" width=\"560\" height=\"450\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Nt9yjqUEWj4\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Born in London in 1932, Taylor relocated with her family to Hollywood as World War II broke out and became a child actress already had a contract with Universal, making her screen debut in <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/There%27s_One_Born_Every_Minute\">There&#8217;s One Born Every Minute<\/a> (1942).<\/p>\n<p>It was her lead role as a teenage jockey in the family drama <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/National_Velvet_(film)\">National Velvet<\/a> (1944) that established her as a major star and by the end of the 1940s she made the transition to adult roles.<\/p>\n<p>But it was her part as a spoled socialite in <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/A_Place_in_the_Sun_(film)\">A Place In The Sun<\/a> (1951) that established her acting credentials and took her career to an new plateau.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" width=\"560\" height=\"450\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_Fm6sa_L5_4\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>As her celebrity bloomed in in the 1950s, fuelled by tabloid coverage of her private life, the more serious roles dried up with the exception of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Giant_(1956_film)\">Giant<\/a> (1956) and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Raintree_County_(film)\">Raintree County<\/a> (1957).<\/p>\n<p>But at the end of that decade her performances in two Tennesse Williams adaptations gave a huge boost to her career: <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cat_on_a_Hot_Tin_Roof\">Cat on a Hot Tin Roof<\/a> (1958) and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Suddenly,_Last_Summer_(film)\">Suddenly, Last Summer<\/a> (1959) earned her back-to-back Oscar nominations.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" width=\"560\" height=\"349\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/rDk0JtQHc0A\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The terms of her contract at MGM meant that she reluctantly made <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/BUtterfield_8\">BUtterfield 8<\/a> (1960) and although she won the Best Actress Oscar for her part she later criticised the film and attracted controversy for &#8220;stealing&#8221; her co-star <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Eddie_Fisher_(singer)\">Eddie Fisher<\/a> from his then-wife <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Debbie_Reynolds\">Debbie Reynolds<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In 1960 she became the highest paid actress in the world when 20th Century Fox paid her $1 million dollars to play the title role in Cleopatra, a production which quickly became a high profile disaster which almost bankrupted the studio before being released in 1963.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" width=\"560\" height=\"349\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NGDyZHlHklo\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>During the filming she began a relationship with her co-star and future husband Richard Burton, causing another wave of coverage from the tabloid press as both were married at the time.<\/p>\n<p>Her passionate and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-wales-12834854\">tempestuous relationship with Burton<\/a> was one of the most high profile ever seen in Hollywood, fuelling acres of newsprint and speculation.<\/p>\n<p>It was mirrored on screen as they co-starred in The V.I.P.&#8217;s (1963), The Sandpiper (1965) and, most memorably, in <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Who%27s_Afraid_of_Virginia_Woolf%3F_(film)\">Who&#8217;s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?<\/a> (1966).<\/p>\n<p>Directed by <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mike_Nichols\">Mike Nichols<\/a> from <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Who%27s_Afraid_of_Virginia_Woolf%3F\">Edward Albee&#8217;s play<\/a> about a bickering couple on the campus of a New England college, it was a groundbreaking film with its shockingly profane language (for the time) and stark depiction of marriage.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" width=\"560\" height=\"349\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lJ2e-92eAt8\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Taylor managed to turn her gamourous image on its head, playing a frumpy and embittered housewife and her role won her a second Best Actress Oscar.<\/p>\n<p>This marked a high-point in her career and although she appeared in subsequent films with Burton, such as The Taming of the Shrew (1967), Doctor Faustus (1967), The Comedians (1967) and Boom!
