{"id":9221,"date":"2010-09-25T22:34:04","date_gmt":"2010-09-25T21:34:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.filmdetail.com\/?p=9221"},"modified":"2011-07-30T18:11:27","modified_gmt":"2011-07-30T17:11:27","slug":"financial-apocalypse-in-rollover","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.filmdetail.com\/2010\/09\/25\/financial-apocalypse-in-rollover\/","title":{"rendered":"Financial Apocalypse in Rollover"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0083006\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9222\" title=\"Rollover\" src=\"http:\/\/www.filmdetail.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/Rollover.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"418\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.filmdetail.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/Rollover.jpg 560w, https:\/\/www.filmdetail.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/Rollover-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0083006\">Rollover<\/a><\/strong> didn&#8217;t exactly make major waves upon its release, but its depiction of a global financial collapse now seems chilling.<\/p>\n<p>A conspiracy thriller directed by <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Alan_J._Pakula\">Alan Pakula<\/a>, it starred\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jane_Fonda\">Jane Fonda<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kris_Kristofferson\">Kris Kristofferson<\/a> and\u00a0is about the chaos unleashed by an Arab firm which decides not to redeposit (or &#8216;rollover&#8217;) their huge investment in a US bank, which sends Wall Street and the global financial system into meltdown.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"450\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/cDpsFPM2NF4\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Although <a href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_di621Kpm2A4\/SucEney9i2I\/AAAAAAAACvw\/boSFxWFWu7k\/s1600-h\/rollover.jpg\">the poster<\/a> made it look like some kind of dodgy erotic thriller, this clip is creepy in light of the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2008_financial_crisis\">ongoing financial crisis<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"560\" height=\"340\" classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/iicB80Mwz8w?fs=1&amp;hl=en_GB\" \/><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><embed width=\"560\" height=\"340\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/iicB80Mwz8w?fs=1&amp;hl=en_GB\" allowFullScreen=\"true\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" \/><\/object><\/p>\n<p>In truth the film itself is not particularly good and certainly nowhere near the quality of Pakula&#8217;s other films like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0074119\/\">All the President&#8217;s Men<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0071970\/\">The Parallax View<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=NaaHx2doD94\">riots around the world<\/a> triggered by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=3NAOUrxSZ3A\">financial chaos<\/a> seems awfully familiar doesn&#8217;t it?<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"450\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/6butfe1f9Hg\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&gt;
