Dr Strangelove<\/a><\/strong> (Sony): The Blu-ray release of Stanley Kubrick<\/a>‘s classic Cold War satire is undoubtedly one of the major releases of the year on the format. Released in 1964, it stars\u00a0Peter Sellers<\/a> (in a remarkable three roles: US president, the scientist title character and a British RAF group captain),\u00a0George C. Scott<\/a> and\u00a0Sterling Hayden<\/a>. Loosely based on\u00a0Peter George’s<\/a> Cold War<\/a> novel\u00a0Red Alert<\/a><\/em> it depicts the chaos that ensues when an unhinged\u00a0US Air Force<\/a> general\u00a0launches a\u00a0first strike<\/a> nuclear attack<\/a> on the\u00a0Soviet Union<\/a>. (500) Days of Summer<\/a><\/strong> (Fox): A smart and inventive romantic comedy that explores the failed romance of a couple (Joseph Gordon-Levitt<\/a> and\u00a0Zooey Deschanel<\/a>) in a quirky and non-linear fashion. Directed by Marc Webb<\/a> and scripted by Scott Neustadter
