Star Trek<\/a><\/strong> (Paramount): The rebooting of the Star Trek franchise\u00a0takes place in the early years of Captain Kirk (Chris Pine<\/a>) and Mr. Spock (Zachary Quinto<\/a>), during their training at Starfleet Academy and their first mission together.\u00a0Directed by\u00a0J. J. Abrams<\/a>\u00a0it is a smart and highly engaging sci-fi adventure which should please Trek fans and a wider audience. It looks set to dominate the global box office this week and Paramount can expect to crack markets that have traditionally been resistant to their most profitable franchise. Coraline<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0(Universal): An animated\u00a0stop-motion<\/a>\u00a03-D<\/a>\u00a0fantasy film<\/a>\u00a0based on\u00a0Neil Gaiman<\/a>‘s 2002 novella<\/a>\u00a0about a young girl (Dakota Fanning<\/a>) who finds a portal to an alternate world, which is more sinister than it initially seems. Directed by Henry Selick<\/a>, who made\u00a0The Nightmare Before Christmas<\/a>, it features the voices of\u00a0Dakota Fanning<\/a>, Teri Hatcher<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Keith David<\/a>\u00a0and is a compelling and imaginitavely realised tale.\u00a0[<\/span>Vue West End & Nationwide \/ Cert\u00a0PG] (Previews 2 – 4 May)<\/span><\/p>\n
