by a separate director:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0418982\/\">Julian Jarrold<\/a>\u00a0(Brideshead Revisited),\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm1016428\/\">James Marsh<\/a>\u00a0(Man on Wire) and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0875793\/\">Anand Tucker<\/a>\u00a0(And When Did You Last See Your Father?).<\/p>\n<p>The first is entitled\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.channel4.com\/programmes\/red-riding\/episode-guide\/series-1\/episode-1\">1974<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and explores the paranoia, mistrust and institutionalised police corruption in Yorkshire.<\/p>\n<p>When a young journalist named Eddie Dunford (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm1940449\/\">Andrew Garfield<\/a>) becomes obsessed with\u00a0a police investigation into a series of child abductions, he uncovers a\u00a0complex maze of lies and deceit.<\/p>\n<p>One of the characters he comes across is a local businessman named John Dawson (played by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0000293\/\">Sean Bean<\/a>) who, in this clip, advises Eddie to form a mutually beneficial relationship with him.<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"425\" height=\"344\" data=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/VXyQqFREnQo&amp;color1=0xb1b1b1&amp;color2=0xcfcfcf&amp;hl=en&amp;feature=player_embedded&amp;fs=1\" \/><\/object><\/p>\n<p>The second episode, directed by Marsh, set in and called\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1260581\/\">1980<\/a><\/strong>, sees the<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Peter_Sutcliffe\">Yorkshire Ripper<\/a>\u00a0terrorise the area for six long years, and with the local police failing to make any progress, the Home Office sends in Manchester officer Peter Hunter (Considine) to review the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Having previously made enemies in the Yorkshire force while investigating a shooting incident in 1974, Hunter finds himself increasingly isolated when his version of events challenges their official line on the \u201cRipper\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In the final instalment, directed by Tucker and set in and called\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1259573\/\">1983<\/a><\/strong>, another young girl has disappeared and Detective Chief Superintendent Maurice Jobson (Morrissey) recognises some alarming similarities to the abductions in 1974, forcing him to come to terms with the fact that he may have helped convict the wrong man.<\/p>\n<p>When local solicitor John Piggott (Addy) is persuaded to fight this miscarriage of justice he finds himself slowly uncovering a catalogue of cover ups.<\/p>\n<p>It is dark but compelling material and the kind of expensive, challenging
