NATIONAL RELEASES<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fast and Furious<\/a><\/strong> (Universal): The fourth film in\u00a0The Fast and the Furious\u00a0film series<\/a>\u00a0which is set between the\u00a0second<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0third<\/a>\u00a0films, five years after the events of the first film.\u00a0The plot connects with the original film<\/a>\u00a0from which\u00a0Vin Diesel<\/a>,\u00a0Paul Walker<\/a>,\u00a0Michelle Rodriguez<\/a>, and\u00a0Jordana Brewster<\/a>\u00a0reprise their roles.\u00a0It has already taken a ton of money in America after dominating the box office there last weekend<\/a> and could very well claim the top spot here. \u00a0<\/p>\n

17 Again<\/a><\/strong> (Entertainment): A body swap film which stars\u00a0Matthew Perry<\/a>\u00a0as a thirtysomething man who gets the chance to be his 17 year old self (Zac Efron<\/a>).\u00a0Directed by Burr Steers<\/a> (who previously directed\u00a0Igby Goes Down<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days<\/a>, as well as being the guy on the couch in Pulp Fiction \u00a0who gets shot by Samuel L Jackson<\/a>), it is likely to play well to the High School Musical fanbase, but might suffer in what is a crowded week for family films with the Easter holidays.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Race To Witch Mountain<\/a><\/strong> (Disney): A\u00a0re-imagining<\/a>\u00a0(i.e. loose remake) of the 1975 film\u00a0Escape to Witch Mountain<\/a>. Both versions of the film are based on the 1968 novel\u00a0Escape to Witch Mountain<\/a>\u00a0by author\u00a0Alexander Key<\/a>. This one stars\u00a0Dwayne ‘Formerly Known as The Rock’ Johnson<\/a>,\u00a0Anna Sophia Robb<\/a>,\u00a0Alexander Ludwig<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Carla Gugino<\/a>. The iffy reviews probably won’t stop curious family audiences from checking it out, even if it doesn’t have any major stars in it.<\/p>\n

Dragonball Evolution<\/a><\/strong> (Fox): A\u00a0live-action<\/a>\u00a0film adaptation<\/a>\u00a0of the\u00a0Dragon Ball<\/a>\u00a0media franchise<\/a>\u00a0(so one to get the art-house crowd excited), the plot revolves\u00a0around the adventures of the lead character\u00a0Goku<\/a>\u00a0(Justin Chatwin<\/a>) and his nemesis\u00a0Lord Piccolo<\/a>\u00a0(James Marsters<\/a>). It is directed by\u00a0James Wong<\/a>\u00a0and produced by\u00a0Stephen Chow.<\/a><\/p>\n

Fifty Dead Men Walking<\/a><\/strong> (Metrodome): An\u00a0adaptation of\u00a0Martin McGartland<\/a>‘s 1997 autobiography of the same name, about his time as\u00a0an\u00a0informant<\/a>\u00a0within the\u00a0Provisional IRA<\/a>\u00a0from 1988 til 1991.\u00a0It stars\u00a0Jim Sturgess<\/a>\u00a0as McGartland,\u00a0Ben Kingsley<\/a>\u00a0as his British\u00a0handler<\/a>\u00a0and was directed by Kari Scogland<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Let The Right One In<\/a><\/strong> (Momentum):\u00a0Set during the 1980s, this Swedish vampire film tells the story of a bullied 12-year-old boy named Oskar (K\u00e5re Hedebrant<\/a>) who develops a relationship with a\u00a0vampire<\/a>\u00a0(Lina Leandersson<\/a>). Directed by\u00a0Tomas Alfredson<\/span><\/a><\/strong>, it is based on\u00a0the novel<\/a>\u00a0by\u00a0John Ajvide Lindqvist<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0has garnered\u00a0widespread critical acclaim<\/a>,\u00a0won awards<\/a>\u00a0and become something of a cult hit over the last few months.<\/p>\n

Tony Manero<\/a><\/strong> (Network Releasing): A\u00a0Chilean<\/a>\u00a0film directed by\u00a0Pablo Larra\u00edn<\/a>\u00a0about a man obsessed with\u00a0John Travolta<\/a>‘s character in\u00a0Saturday Night Fever<\/a><\/em>. It was\u00a0Chile’s submission to the\u00a081st Academy Awards<\/a>\u00a0for the\u00a0Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.<\/a><\/p>\n

The 400 Blows<\/a><\/strong> (BFI): A BFI reissue for this classic\u00a01959<\/a>\u00a0film directed by\u00a0Fran\u00e7ois Truffaut<\/a>, which was a key part of the\u00a0French New Wave<\/a>. The story is about\u00a0an ordinary adolescent in\u00a0Paris<\/a>, who is thought by his parents and teachers to be a trouble maker.<\/p>\n

Tera Mera Ki Rishta<\/a><\/strong> (Eros): A bollywood movie starring\u00a0Jimmy Shergill and Kulraj Randhawa.<\/p>\n
