He was there in a musical capacity with his band The Boxmasters<\/a> and what followed was a now-legendary appearence to rank alongside George Best on Wogan<\/a>, Sigur Ros on NPR<\/a>, Oliver Reed on After Dark<\/a> and\u00a0James Brown on CNN<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Best bit: when asked about his musical tastes and influences as a child, he starts going on about ‘Famous Monsters of Filmland’<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Later Thornton complained that Canadian audiences wouldn’t get up and move, saying that Canadians were like\u00a0mashed potatoes<\/a>\u00a0without\u00a0gravy<\/a>, which perhaps isn’t the best way of boosting his Canadian record sales.<\/p>\n
