Brideshead Revisited<\/a><\/strong> is the first feature film\u00a0adaptation of the\u00a0Evelyn Waugh’s<\/a> classic 1945\u00a0novel of the same name.<\/a><\/p>\n

Set in a pre-WWII<\/a> England, it tells the story of a young man named Charles Ryder\u00a0(Matthew Goode<\/a>) who becomes friends with an aristocrat named\u00a0Sebastian Flyte (Ben Whishaw<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Charles is then introduced to Sebastian’s family and becomes\u00a0entranced by his\u00a0sister Julia (Hayley Atwell<\/a>)\u00a0and their large and beautiful estate, despite disagreeing with their religious views and cold manner – embodied by their matriarch, Lady Marchmain (Emma Thompson<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Directed by Julian Jarrold<\/a>, it explores the decline of English aristocracy, catholicism, the conflict between love and duty and the social changes brough about by World War II.<\/p>\n
