{"id":1647,"date":"2008-05-04T13:38:21","date_gmt":"2008-05-04T12:38:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.filmdetail.com\/?p=1647"},"modified":"2008-05-04T13:43:38","modified_gmt":"2008-05-04T12:43:38","slug":"gremlins-bt-ad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.filmdetail.com\/2008\/05\/04\/gremlins-bt-ad\/","title":{"rendered":"Gremlins BT Ad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gremlins\">Gremlins<\/a> are back.<\/p>\n<p>Those creepy little monsters from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0087363\/\">Joe Dante&#8217;s 1984 film<\/a> have been resurrected for this <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/British_Telecom\">BT<\/a> ad starring <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Peter_Jones_(entrepreneur)\">Peter Jones<\/a> from <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dragons%27_Den_(UK)\">Dragon&#8217;s Den<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><object classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" width=\"425\" height=\"355\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"wmode\" value=\"transparent\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/iA1iQm413No&amp;hl=en\" \/><embed type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" width=\"425\" height=\"355\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/iA1iQm413No&amp;hl=en\" wmode=\"transparent\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p>Some quick facts from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.btplc.com\/news\/articles\/showarticle.cfm?articleid={5a3e5364-8eaf-453f-a82f-844034050942}\">the press release<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Special effects company <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artem.com\/\">Artem<\/a> created 20 Gremlins for the ad.<\/li>\n<li>It took a crew of 34 specialist technicians and over 2,500 man hours to produce the different component parts required to bring the mischievous creatures to life.<\/li>\n<li>More than 100 litres of liquid latex and 75 litres of soft foam went into the bodies; hundreds of teeth had to be made and each set of eyeballs painstakingly hand painted.<\/li>\n<li>A separate crew was working simultaneously on the internal mechanisms to make them easy to operate for the puppeteers and give them distinctive Gremlin\u2122 expression and movement.<\/li>\n<li>The shoot required 28 puppeteers and technicians to operate the Gremlins who each developed their own character.<\/li>\n<li>The ad airs on TV for the first time on Monday May 5th.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The ad agency Swarm &#8211; who are behind the ad &#8211; have also released this making of video:<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"425\" height=\"355\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/PCTlDj0f6go&#038;hl=en\"><\/param><param name=\"wmode\" value=\"transparent\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/PCTlDj0f6go&#038;hl=en\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" wmode=\"transparent\" width=\"425\" height=\"355\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p>&gt; <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gremlins\">Gremlins at Wikipedia<\/a><br \/>\n&gt; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0087363\/\">IMDb page for the Gremlins movie<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Gremlins are back.
