{"id":15196,"date":"2013-04-20T20:19:50","date_gmt":"2013-04-20T19:19:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.filmdetail.com\/?p=15196"},"modified":"2013-04-20T20:19:50","modified_gmt":"2013-04-20T19:19:50","slug":"the-critical-average-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.filmdetail.com\/2013\/04\/20\/the-critical-average-2012\/","title":{"rendered":"The Critical Average"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.filmdetail.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/2012-Critical-Consensus.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15208\" alt=\"2012 Critical Consensus\" src=\"http:\/\/www.filmdetail.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/2012-Critical-Consensus.jpg\" width=\"560\" height=\"280\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Can review aggregators give us a true picture of the year in film?<\/p>\n<p>In April 2011 I wanted to get <a href=\"http:\/\/www.filmdetail.com\/2011\/04\/18\/2011-so-far-critics-metacritic-imdb-rotten-tomatoes\/\">a critical snapshot of the first three months of that year<\/a> by combining three major review hubs: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.metacritic.com\/movies\">Metacritic<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/\">Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>\u00a0and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/\">IMDb<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Using roughly the same methods this time around, the goal was to get a similar picture for a whole year.<\/p>\n<p>Data from the aforementioned websites was analysed again using all the US releases listed on the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2012_in_film\">Wikipedia entry for 2012<\/a>.
