Back in 1992 PBS aired a series on the history of computers called The Machine That Changed the World<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Produced by WGBH Television, it was written and directed by Nancy Linde<\/a> and was also shown in the UK on the BBC.<\/p>\n

Episode 1: Great Brains<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Explores the earliest forms of computing, from Charles Babbage<\/a> in the 1800s to the first working computers of the 1940s.<\/p>\n
