Production designer Joe Alves<\/a><\/strong> describes how he found the iconic locations for Close Encounters of the Third Kind<\/a><\/strong> (1978).<\/p>\n

He had already worked with director Steven Spielberg<\/a> on films such as The Sugarland Express<\/a> (1974) and Jaws<\/a> (1975), but Close Encounters involved more elaborate sets and visual effects.<\/p>\n
