This week the cinema releases under the microscope are Lions for Lambs<\/strong>, Into the Wild <\/strong>and Planet Terror<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"The<\/a><\/p>\n

Lions for Lambs<\/strong><\/a> is a drama dealing with the current war on terror<\/a> by focusing on three interconnected stories: a Senator (Tom Cruise<\/a>) briefs a journalist (Meryl Streep<\/a>) about a new government strategy for Afghanistan<\/a> conflict<\/a>; a college professor (Robert Redford<\/a>) tries to awaken a promising but apathetic student (Andrew Garfield<\/a>); and two US soldiers (Michael Pena<\/a> and Derek Luke<\/a>) become stranded on an Afghan mountain.<\/p>\n

Into the Wild<\/strong><\/a> is Sean Penn<\/a>‘s fourth film as a director and tells the true story of Christopher McCandless<\/a> (Emile Hirsch<\/a>), who dropped out of his middle class background to wander the US for two years, before living in the wilds of Alaska. Along the way he meets a variety of characters amidst the backdrop of the American landscape. Catherine Keener<\/a>, Hal Holbrook<\/a>, Jena Malone<\/a>, Marcia Gay Harden<\/a> and William Hurt<\/a> co-star.<\/p>\n

Planet Terror<\/a> <\/strong>is the other half of the Grindhouse<\/a> project, where Robert Rodriguez<\/a> teamed up with Quentin Tarantino<\/a> to make a double bill of exploitation-style films. Sadly, the film was split in two after a disappointing run at the US box office. Death Proof<\/a> was the Tarantino film and now Rodriguez’s is released here. It is the tale of a mysterious green mist that turns a Texan town into zombies and a group of survivors (that includes Rose McGowan<\/a>, Freddy Rodriguez<\/a> and Michael Biehn<\/a>) who must escape.<\/p>\n
