{"id":10751,"date":"2011-02-03T16:46:10","date_gmt":"2011-02-03T16:46:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.filmdetail.com\/?p=10751"},"modified":"2011-02-03T16:48:21","modified_gmt":"2011-02-03T16:48:21","slug":"maria-schneider-1952-2011","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.filmdetail.com\/2011\/02\/03\/maria-schneider-1952-2011\/","title":{"rendered":"Maria Schneider (1952-2011)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10752\" title=\"Maria Schneider in Last Tango in Paris (1972)\" src=\"http:\/\/www.filmdetail.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Maria-Schneider.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"280\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Actress <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Maria_Schneider_(actress)\">Maria Schneider<\/a><\/strong> has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/2011\/02\/03\/us-france-mariaschneider-idUSTRE7124UR20110203\">died in Paris at the age of 58<\/a> after a long illness.<\/p>\n<p>She was a teenage model when <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bernardo_Bertolucci\">Bernardo Bertolucci<\/a> cast her alongside Marlon Brando in <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Last_Tango_in_Paris\">Last Tango in Paris<\/a> (1972), a film which broke sexual taboos and became an international sensation.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" width=\"560\" height=\"345\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3x4UOsLC0OE\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Although she later starred alongside Jack Nicholson in Michelangelo Antonioni&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Passenger_(film)\">The Passenger<\/a> (1975), it was her debut role which sadly came to define her career.<\/p>\n<p>Depicting the relationship between a young Parisian woman and a depressed American hotel manager, it swifty became notorious for its explicit sex scenes.<\/p>\n<p>Schneider <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/tvshowbiz\/article-469646\/I-felt-raped-Brando.html\">later claimed<\/a> that one infamous scene left her feeling exploited:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I felt humiliated and to be honest, I felt a little raped, both by Marlon and by Bertolucci. After the scene, Marlon didn&#8217;t console me or apologise. Thankfully, there was just one take.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Bertolucci <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/film\/2004\/feb\/05\/features.xanbrooks\">later said in 2003<\/a> that there was a misunderstanding:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;It is true that Maria was very young when we shot the film and maybe she couldn&#8217;t articulate what happened.
